The 22-year-old was found with serious head injuries in a bus lane under the footbridge linking the bus and train stations. He was rushed to hospital but later died of his injuries.

Tributes have been left online to Mr Brookes, from Dudley, and flowers have been left at the bridge which reopened yesterday.

They came as police confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Kerry Handley posted on Facebook: "R.i.p Chris, gone way too soon left a lot of people broken hearted especially your loved ones."

Police said on Sunday it is understood the man may have fallen from a bridge.

He was found lying motionless on the ground by the ambulance service at 3.30am.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 646 of October 29.
