The shell of a new four-bedroom house on Sandringham Avenue built without permission

Residents living in Sandringham Avenue and Arundel Road said they have lived in ‘absolute hell’ for years because of the shell of a new house sitting on the junction of the two streets.

They are now hopeful the nightmare is finally about to end after government inspectors ordered the “monstrosity” to be pulled down.

Walsall Council slapped an enforcement notice on owners Gurwinder Singh and Rajwinder Kaur in 2022 demanding the four bedroom partially built property be demolished after it was erected without permission.

They had been granted permission for a side extension but sparked uproar in the area as the original modest semi-detached home was taken down and the larger property built in its place.

An appeal against the enforcement notice was lodged but the planning inspectorate threw it out earlier this month.

People in the area, which came together to lodge complaints and petitions to the council, now hopes this will bring an end to the saga.

By walking along the streets, it’s clear that this is a quiet area with the homes mostly semi-detached or terraced well maintained by the owners.

But the imposing structure on the site surrounded by white security boards soon comes into view and catches the eye with it’s lack of windows and the sheeting on the roof flapping about wildly in the wind.

A number of homes on both Sandringham Avenue and Arundel Road are faced with it when they look out of their windows.
