Firefighters worked to tackle the blaze at a property in Willenhall with crews from both Willenhall Red Watch and Walsall Fire in attendance.

Pictures posted online show the mass destruction the fire left behind, with the home's walls, floors and ceiling having been destroyed.

Firefighters said the occupants of the home had been 'lucky' as the property had not got any smoke alarms fitted.

A West Midlands Fire spokesperson said: "This image, taken at a house fire attended by our Willenhall Fire crew, show how important it is to have a working smoke alarm.

"These occupiers didn't, they were lucky this time. Always make sure you have a working smoke alarm."
