Resurfacing work will be taking place along Wolverhampton Road West between Arnwood Close and the junction 10 roundabout this weekend.

To enable the work to take place safely the road is closing in both directions from 8pm on Friday until around midnight on Sunday.

The A454 Black Country Route will also be closed to eastbound traffic tonight until 5am on Saturday and again from 10pm on Sunday until 5am on Monday.

From 5am on Saturday until 10pm on Sunday, one lane will be closed on the Black Country Route eastbound approach to the roundabout as well as two lanes on the western side of the roundabout.

The closures are expected to cause delays for traffic in the area and drivers are advised to use alternative routes if possible or to allow additional time for journeys.

A clearly signed diversion route, agreed with the local authority, will be in place.

Two new bridges are being installed at junction 10 which double the number of lanes around the roundabout from two to four.

The increased capacity will tackle heavy congestion at the bottleneck junction.

The new bridges have replaced the two-lane structures which were in place for around 50 years.

National Highways and Walsall Council, supported by the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership, have joined forces to fund the upgrade.

Contractor John Sisk & Son is carrying out the work.
