Yaqub Khan tried to escape police officers by reversing into oncoming traffic on a busy road in Walsall.

The 20-year-old, from Derby, reversed up Thorpe Road, in Caldmore, onto West Bromwich Street into oncoming traffic and then continued to reverse the wrong way down the busy High Street where he made off from officers driving dangerously along the pavement, said a West Midlands Police spokesman.

Police confirmed he had been involved with a group causing significant anti-social behaviour in Walsall in April 2018.

Last week, at Wolverhampton Crown Court he was given a 12-month community order and was banned from driving for 12 months. He also has to attend a rehabilitation programme and complete 120 hours of unpaid work.

Anyone with concerns about anti-social behaviour in the area can contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat at www.west-midlands.police.uk, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
