Dollymixtures Nursery in Stafford has reached an important anniversary as it will celebrate 30 years since it opened.

In addition, the nursery has also become the first nursery in Stafford to achieve Millie's Mark, which is awarded as a special endorsement to childcare providers who have 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid, and also ensuring that everything learned during the course is kept alive and in the forefront of practitioners’ minds.

The nursery celebrated both achievements with a series of special events, having a party for the children on Friday, September 27 which included a magician and animal exhibit and a private celebration on the evening on Saturday, September 28.

Dollymixtures is a family-run nursery based on the site of St George's Hospital which, over the years, has expanded from a 24-place nursery to over 74 people, a school club and pre-school at John Wheeldon Academy and, in 2016, received an Outstanding grade from Ofsted.

Deb Jones, a member of staff at the Nursery, spoke about the significance of the anniversary and the honour of the award.

She said: "After 30 years, we're now getting children of some of the children who came here when we first opened, which is both shocking and great.

"We're all about being warm and opening and we have an excellent team here who are dedicated to looking after the children.

"The Millie's Mark award is brilliant because it rewards all the hard work done by the staff to get the accreditation and means that they are now all fully first-aid trained, which reinforces our commitment to always improving."
