The driver of the car, a woman, suffered minor injuries after being involved in a crash with an ambulance taking a patient to hospital.

Emergency services attended

The West Midlands Ambulance Service vehicle was taking a patient to hospital on lights and sirens when it collided with a car at the crossroads of Pattingham Road and Wrottesley Park Road/Jenny Walkers Lane in Perton early this afternoon.

Another ambulance, the air ambulance, firefighters and police all attended and the road, between Pattingham and Wolverhampton, was closed.

A statement from the ambulance service said: "West Midlands Ambulance Service can confirm that an ambulance, alerting a patient to hospital, was involved in a collision with a car near Wolverhampton this afternoon.

"The ambulance had its blue lights and sirens activated and was transporting a patient to hospital at the time of the collision, which happened on Pattingham Road at 12.19pm.

"Two ambulances, one of which conveyed the original patient to hospital, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were sent to the scene.

"The driver of the car, a woman, was assessed and treated for minor injuries before being taken to New Cross Hospital. The two ambulance crew members and the patient were thankfully uninjured."
