One further Covid death in region

One further coronavirus death has been confirmed in Birmingham.

The death at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust means the total number of Covid deaths in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire is now 7,575.

A total of 2,607 people have died at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope hospitals.

And seven more deaths were confirmed in the region's care homes this week, taking the total number of deaths of people who contracted coronavirus in care homes to 1,397.

A total of 800 people have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, 736 at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and 720 at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

Meanwhile, 1,712 have died at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and 1,168 have died at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

A total of 39,155,196 vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.

In the Midlands, 5,443,368 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 2,025,643 second doses have been carried out.

The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and April 25.
