Chiefs in the borough said the Swim Walsall Leisure Swim Academy would restart next month – with a range of measures in place.

More than 2,500 children are enrolled on the scheme, which is run in partnership with the Swimming Teachers Association.

Councillor Gary Perry, cabinet lead for leisure, culture and communities, said: "We appreciate that not all customers will feel comfortable with sending their child back just yet so there is an option to freeze lesson payments.

"We hope that parents will look forward to sending their children back to our swim classes."
