Aria Law, age five, from Great Barr has been making postcards and posting them to her neighbours to cheer them up during the pandemic

Aria Law, age five, has been designing and drawing postcards, and picking flowers from her garden, to cheer up her neighbours who are self-isolating.

Her mother, Sharni Law, said Aria had already received messages and gifts back from people to say thank you for brightening an otherwise worrying time.

Sharni, who also has a two-year-old son, Spencer, said: "One neighbour texted me to say how lovely it was. And we did it for the neighbour the other side and she said how emotional it made her, and that it was such a lovely thing to do.

"She said it cheered her right up and Aria was so pleased with herself.

More Covid-19 coverage:

"One of the neighbours bought the kids an Easter egg each as well just to say thank you. Aria has done them another card and picked them some flowers which she popped in the porch."

The primary school pupil turned five this week – and celebrated her birthday indoors with her parents and brother, with more arts and crafts, presents, cake and games.

Sharni added: "She's generally managing lockdown well. One of our neighbours had to use our internet recently so he could see his family on Skype. Since then she's been worried about him being lonely so she asks about him everyday and checks on him when he's in the garden.

"She's been enjoying doing school work at home but she's missing both sets of grandparents."
