Staffordshire Place in Stafford will close to the public from Friday in efforts to help reduce the spread of coronavirus.

People are being advised that the authority's customer contact centre remains open and access to many council services is available on the MyStaffs App and online at staffordshire.gov.uk or via 0300 111 8000.

Philip Atkins, leader of Staffordshire County Council, said: “The challenges and risks around coronavirus that we face remain significant and it’s vital that we all do what we can to help reduce the spread of the virus.

“Given the Government’s latest advice to reduce social interaction between people, our duty as a county council is to keep people safe and this is the most sensible way forward. Even though the building will be closed to the public there will still be ways to access many services including on our website and via the MyStaffs App.

“These remain really difficult times for us all however if we pull together and support one another, particularly the over-70s, we will get through this.”

The key priority for the county council remains to keep the vulnerable adults and children in its communities safe in the coming weeks and months.
