A robber who snatched an elderly woman's bag just weeks after being released from prison has been jailed for more than eight years.

Blaine Richardson shoved the 79-year-old victim into a fence in Gordon Street, Darlaston, grabbing her shoulder bag in the process.

The 38-year-old, who had already been sentenced for more than 13 years in prison for similar offences, left the woman shocked – but not seriously hurt.

CCTV captured the defendant moments before and after the attack on May 17.

Richardson pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial, despite initially denying the offence, at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Thursday.

The defendant, from Radnor Road in Handsworth, was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison.

Back in 2013 Richardson was jailed for eight-and-a-half years after snatching the handbags of 12 women in 10 days across the Black Country and Staffordshire.

He and accomplice David White - who were then both described as drug addicts - targeted victims who were mainly in their 70s and were walking alone at the time of the robberies.
