Two due in court over National Action membership

Two people suspected of being members of banned far-right terrorist group National Action are due in court today charged with terrorism offences.

Mark Jones, 23, and Alice Cutter, 22, were charged with being members of the proscribed organisation National Action contrary to section 11 of the Terrorism Act 2000, West Midlands Police have said.

The pair, both of Wharf Street, Halifax, are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London today.

The charges follow an investigation by West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit.

Two men from Birmingham, aged 22 and 28, remain in custody after detectives were granted a warrant of further detention.

A 17-year-old boy from Nottingham has been bailed.

The five were arrested on September 5.
