Donavon Wilson, aged 19, was arrested in Derbyshire after a lengthy search which began in June.

Wilson, from Sedgley, has now been charged with 13 offences spanning the summer period. Today police said the net was closing in on alleged accomplice Omari Maitland, 20, who is from Wolverhampton, and who is wanted in connection with a number of the offences.

Still wanted - Omari Maitland

Police first issued a public appeal for Wilson after an alleged car jacking in Woodcross, Wolverhampton, on June 18, targeting a woman aged 38.

A small hatchback ran into the back of the victim's car at around 2.40pm, and when she got out to exchange details she was said to have been pushed to the floor by a man from the other car. He then then jumped into her vehicle and drove off down Robert Wynd towards Woodcross park.

Wilson has now been charged with:

  • A robbery in Tipton

  • Bilkings in Tipton and Wolverhampton

  • A burglary in Halesowen

  • Three Wolverhampton robberies

  • An attempted burglary in Dudley

  • Theft of motor vehicle in Wolverhampton

  • A wounding in Tipton

  • Aggravated taking of a vehicle in Tipton.

  • A car key burglary in Codsall

Today, head of Wolverhampton CID Det Insp Mark Rushton said: "We're still actively seeking Omari Maitland in relation to these offences and it's only a matter of time before we catch him. We'd appeal for him to hand himself in as soon as possible."

Wilson appeared before Wolverhampton magistrates court on Saturday, after being arrested on Friday, and will appear before the city's crown court in the coming weeks.

Anyone with information on Maitland should contact Wolverhampton Police on 101 or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
