The new service ‘Trade with Confidence’ will provide businesses with specific training and knowledge they require to be ‘five-star’ ready, to help them achieve and maintain the highest food hygiene ratings.

To kick-off the launch, the city council is hosting a drop-in event on Tuesday as part of its 11-day programme to support and promote business across Wolverhampton.

The free event will from 11am until 6pm at The Lighthouse, in the city centre Chubb Buildings, for food business owners to learn all about the new service and receive specialist food safety advice to help them comply with food hygiene legislation.

Those taking part will have the opportunity to receive exclusive launch offers on bespoke packages to help them on their way to ‘be the best’ when it comes to food hygiene.

Councillor Steve Evans, the council's environment chief, said: “As a council, we understand the importance of food safety and find it our duty to support businesses who are looking to improve and maintain their food hygiene ratings.

“It’s understandable that some business owners may find food safety regulations difficult to understand, especially when balancing these needs with trying to operate a successful business.

“To help businesses achieve high food hygiene ratings, the council’s food safety team has launched a bespoke consultancy service, which gives business owners access to experienced and qualified food safety experts who can support businesses to achieve the best food hygiene rating possible.

“I encourage anyone who owns or is thinking about setting up a food business to come along to the launch and see what’s on offer.”
