Annual profits fell for APC

Profits for APC Overnight slipped in its last financial year despite rising sales.

The Cannock transportation and parcel sorting business, which specialises in serving small and medium-sized firms, saw pre-tax profits down from £2.99 million in 2016-20917 to £2.51m on turnover that rose 2.56 per cent from £103.1m to £105.8m.

The directors' report says they believe the SME sector will provide sufficient growth to secure the next phase of APC's developments.

They said there was exceptional growth in niche services.

Capital investment of £490,000 was made in the year to refresh operating assets and provide a new IT system to drive performance.

APC, which has its headquarters in Blakeney Way and a second hub at Essington, increased the numbers employed from 535 to 588 over the course of the year. Wages and salaries rose from £10.3m to £11.3m.

The company has more than 112 locations nationwide and collects, routes and deliver millions of parcels every month.

The company also offers timed and trackable next day delivery and specialises in fragile, security and liquid services.
