Bilbrook Medical Centre on Brookfield Road in Codsall has undergone a series of major changes over the past few years as part of a project to improve patient access and experience.

The centre has seen the creation of a nursing unit, a first floor extension to allow an increase in the number of consulting rooms and the renovation of its minor surgery room.

Unlike previous years, the centre can now deliver more services in-house and bring advanced diagnostic testing closer to home.

The final stages of the development included the transformation of the entrance and reception area to improve disability access and confidentiality.

The surgery received part of the required funding from the NHS England Shropshire and Staffordshire Area Team 'GP Improvement Grant' - which has enabled the work at the centre to be completed earlier than planned.

And to celebrate the work done during the past few years a special opening event was held on Friday, April 24.

The event which was attended by staff members, local residents and patients was held as a celebration and a way of saying thank you to those who had stayed patient following much building activity at the building.

Di Palfrey, practice manager at Bilbrook Medical Centre, said: "The opening event was an opportunity to say thank you to patients, staff and local residents for bearing with us during our programme of development.

"We appreciate how frustrating the last three months have been due to the impact temporary changes to the entrance and reception area have had on patients.

"Our aim is to improve the service our patients receive and enable us to provide accommodation that can adapt to their future needs and the changing shape of the NHS."

John Kilroe, a member of Bilbrook Medical Centre's PPG added: "I believe the surgery is doing very well to maintain its route to continuous improvement in the quality of care and service to the patients.

"I am sure it will continue to maintain the hard work."

The final element of the build will be the installation of a new bike rack which is being done as part of a South Staffordshire District Council project to raise awareness of the local historical connection with the Boulton Paul Aircraft industry.
