Woman suffers 'serious' burns in Wolverhampton house fire

A woman suffered 'serious' burns during a house fire in Wolverhampton last night.

Firefighters rescued the woman through the window of the bungalow in Hendon Close, Bushbury, at around 10.45pm.

She was taken to New Cross Hospital before being transferred to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

West Midlands Fire Service said the fire was contained to a bedroom.

Four firefighters using breathing apparatus entered the property and two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the blaze.

Paramedics at the scene provided initial care and police officers also attended.

A large fan was used to ventilate the property of smoke.

Firefighters left the scene just after 2am this morning.

The cause is believed to be accidental.
