Spot the difference: Our Heidi is a right royal ringer for Kate

The Duchess of Cambridge is looking forward to an exciting year ahead – with Prince George just starting nursery school, Princess Charlotte turning one and her first trip to India planned with her husband.

And that means it's going to be a busy year for Cannock-born lookalike Heidi Agan as she looks set to tour the world pretending to be royalty.

The 35-year-old, who bares a remarkable resemblance to Kate, is going into her fourth year of being a lookalike and is expected to visit China, Japan and Los Angeles.

She used to be a waitress but after being bombarded by customers about her resemblance to Kate, she decided to research the lookalike business and in February 2012 started full time.

She admitted that this period is quiet for her with the royal family being on holiday, but was excited about her plans for later in the year.

Asked about the back end of 2015 and what would be coming up for her in 2016, Cheslyn Hay's Heidi said: "It's always really good and really busy in the run up to Christmas. There's always lots of things to do to keep me busy, and it's fun to do new things and things that are different.

"This past Christmas is the first time I got to do a lights switch-on and it was really cool. I can't believe I'd never done one before and I loved the countdown.

"In terms of this year there's quite a lot of international work on the cards at the moment.

"I think this will be a big year for me as there's lots going on with the Royals with Charlotte turning one, the Queen turning 90, George starting school and the 40th anniversary of the Prince's Trust.

"It's exciting times as the busier the royal family are the more work for the lookalikes.

"At the moment it's quite quiet because of the royals' annual holiday. During times like these, the quieter periods, I do a lot of charity appearances and a lot of admin work. It also gives me time to catch up on my life as sometimes when you're constantly travelling you don't really get much of one."

Her career has taken her all around Europe and to the likes of Australia and Hong Kong, but Japan is the one place Heidi really wants to visit.

However this year looks like it may be the year as she said: "I would like to go to Japan. There's quite a few people getting in touch so I am in no doubt that this will be the year that I get to go."

Her work as a lookalike sees her booked for numerous events where she has to mimic the Duchess as best she can. Although to many it may seem unrealistic, Heidi is clearly well liked as she says she gets up to 20 requests a week.

She said: "Requests for this year were coming in in the middle of last year which is promising. The number I get can vary between five and 20 requests a week, it just depends on what's going on with the royals."

Asked about why she loves the job, she said: "What's amazing is the generosity of people. We do work hard but it doesn't feel like work. We get glimpses into experiences of a completely different life, which is wonderful, but I would not want to do it all the time."

She added how she got into lookalike work: "I started in February 2012, coming up to four years now. People always say you look like someone but you don't see it yourself. It was the customers who convinced me. I didn't know the lookalike world existed so I researched and found out all about it. It's like a whole new world."

Heidi has since moved away from Staffordshire to Northamptonshire but keeps her Cheslyn Hay roots dear and comes back whenever she can.

She said: "I live in Northamptonshire now but I go back there quite a lot because of family. I did a job before Christmas in Walsall so it's nice to get back that way. Sometimes I go to Birmingham just to hear the people talk, it's really comforting to hear accents from that way of the country."
