The actor, who made his name as The Fonz in 1970s sitcom Happy Days, is touring the UK promoting his book and TV series about a boy with dyslexia, Hanz Zipzer, which draws on his own experiences battling with the learning difficulty as a youngster.

Winkler was attending an assembly at Maple Hayes Dyslexia School in Lichfield where he was due to meet pupils and observe the school's method of teaching, which veers away from the widely-taught phonic approach that frequently fails to work for young dyslexics.

Headteacher Dr Daryl Brown said: "The whole school is eagerly anticipating Henry's arrival."

In May, pupils from the school met the actor at a book signing in Birmingham when they invited him to visit.
