The Mayor has unveiled a season of cultural activities and exhibitions.

A raft of cultural events including the opening of musical Hamilton, Sir Simon Rattle’s first season at the London Symphony Orchestra and the Museums At Night festival will show tourists what is is like to explore the capital like a Londoner, Mayor Sadiq Khan has said.

London’s Autumn Season also includes a Harry Potter exhibition at the British Library, the MTV European Music Awards at Wembley Stadium, an exhibition on War Horse author Michael Morpurgo at the V&A Museum of Childhood and the NFL’s London Games.

“London’s Autumn Season will show visitors what it is like to explore the city like a Londoner, whether that’s finding the capital’s secret treasures or visiting its world-leading exhibitions and shows. More than ever it is vital to ensure that the capital extends a warm welcome to all guests of our incredible city.”

The London opening in November of Broadway sensation Hamilton: An American Musical, which has won 11 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize, will be a cornerstone of the season.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical’s creator and composer, stars in the launch film for the season of events.

He said: “London is one of the most exciting places in the world. There’s a real sense of discovery about London – you turn the corner and you walk into something new, amazing and teeming with life.

“Bringing Hamilton to the West End during the autumn is a dream come true – and I can’t wait to see how British audiences embrace it.”

The This Is Rattle season at the Barbican will celebrate Sir Simon Rattle’s achievements as he begins his first season as director of the London Symphony Orchestra, while the Harry Potter: A History Of Magic exhibition will mark the anniversary of the publication of the first book about the young wizard.
