The Wolverhampton star notched five points in Saturday’s Latvian Grand Prix but pulled out of last night’s meeting with Poole – which was washed out – and he won’t ride for Swedish club Dackarna tonight.

He tweaked his knee in last week’s home win over Swindon but it has turned out to be worse than expected.

“I am struggling with the injury,” he said. “It was a matter of damage limitation. I am proud of myself that I battled through it and got a few points on the board.

“At the moment, I need some more time. Saturday was not ideal. I was racing because it’s the World Championship and I’m up there in the points. Five points was better than no points.

“I will take a few days off. Hopefully I will be on the mend a little bit more and come back stronger. It will get better, for sure. It’s just a matter of how long it will take.”

Lindgren is still joint second in the world championship his Latvian display on a track where he raced for two seasons in league action. He said: “It is a tricky place to come to, even when you have been racing there, in terms of getting the setup spot on. I don’t think the track was anywhere near what they normally have in Daugavpils.”

Wolverhampton will next be at Monmore on Monday when they face King’s Lynn in Premiership action.

Meanwhile they have agreed a new date of Monday July 17 for last night’s postponed meeting.

Also, Cradley have announced the return of another club legend to meet supporters.

Lance King, a firm favourite with Heathens fans during three glittering seasons with the club, will be special guest at Halesowen Cricket Club on Thursday, June 29 – two days before he leads the USA into World Cup action at King’s Lynn. King was part of the all-conquering 1983 Cradley side and finished third in the world a year later when Dudley Wood hero Erik Gundersen took top spot.

King said: “This is something I’ve been looking to do for some time, it’s well over 30 years since I last met up with Cradley fans and I can’t wait.”

Tickets will be on sale from the Cradley track shop, Printworx in Cradley Heath market area, on Friday.

They’re also available online at sportstalkevents.co.uk via the Paypal facility.

Cradley are looking for a new date for Belle Vue after the postponement of their meeting at Monmore.
