Wayne Hennessey making Wolves comeback

Wayne Hennessey was today poised to make his comeback for Wolves and end his six-month injury nightmare.

The Wales international is pencilled in to play 45 minutes for the Under-21s against their Chelsea counterparts at AFC Telford (7pm) after making a full recovery from his ruptured cruciate ligament.

Hennessey confirmed he is ready to make his comeback when he tweeted earlier today: "Playing 45 mins against Chelsea 2nite.

"Great sleep, now getting ready for game 2nite."

The 25-year-old is ready to take his first public steps towards his comeback after sustaining the injury against Sunderland in April.

But he is considered some way off challenging Carl Ikeme for a first-team recall, and will take his time getting up to full fitness in the second string.

Meanwhile, boss Stale Solbakken is ready to pitch Jermaine Pennant in for his home debut against Bolton tomorrow.

The on-loan Stoke winger played only his third game this season in Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield on Saturday.

Solbakken revealed he was ready to take Pennant off with 20 minutes left. But the 29-year-old responded with his best spell of the game.

"When you take into consideration that he hasn't played many games, he was very strong in the last 20-25 minutes," said the boss.

"That surprised me but that was good. He really put some good crosses in.

"That was really encouraging because we had someone ready to come on for him, as I thought that after 70 minutes, he would be ready to come off.

"In the last 20 minutes, he had his best part of the game. I'll see tomorrow how he is but I would think there's a fair chance.

"I'll decide then if it's from the beginning, but I don't see any problems. When I saw him training today he looked confident."

Solbakken believes Wolves were bullied by Huddersfield at the weekend.

"We had trouble with the opposition – they tried to abuse us in a way," he said.
