Wolves Women have been denied the chance of becoming title-winners yet again after their season was curtailed for the second year running.

Dan McNamara’s charges have cruelly had their 2020/21 campaign ended after being top of the Women’s National League Division One Midlands, just as they were in 19/20.

It comes after they had won six of six matches in the division. They won 14 of 15 last year, too.

A statement from the FA read: “The 2020/21 season for tiers three to six of the Women’s Football Pyramid will be curtailed with immediate effect and declared incomplete, with no further league fixtures taking place this season.

“There will also be no promotion and relegation between these tiers for the 2020/21 season, including no promotion from tier three into tier two and no relegation from tier six into tier seven.”

The Women’s Football Board, though, have recommended ‘a process of upward club movement, via application and based on set criteria’.

Further feedback will be sought before full details are confirmed.
