Steve Bull: Let’s get on a winning roll

It’s going to be a scrappy dog fight to avoid relegation until the end of the season so we need to start opening up the gap from the bottom now.

We have already started the season well and we earned a massive result against West Ham in our last game. Let’s get three points against Burnley on Sunday and push ourselves up the table.

It will be a tough game and I reckon Burnley will have scouted us beforehand.

But I speak like Nuno and say ‘I wouldn’t worry about other teams, I will worry about my own’. If we get the win it will be a massive bonus.

Our players are performing well and it is no surprise to hear Ruben Neves linked with the likes of both Manchester clubs and Paris Saint Germain. But we will hear about other players linked with clubs elsewhere over the season – that is part of the business.

The players that we have brought in are massive investments. Those like Neves, we have never had them at Wolves before and it is good to see. Now the players have to stay loyal to us and say ‘Wolves can be as big as the likes of Manchester United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal and we may as well stay where we are’.

It is good to see our players performing well on international duty and they will come back to Wolves stronger. Let’s just hope they all come back injury-free.

Then Nuno will have a bit of a headache – a good headache – against Burnley with a fully fit squad. You would rather have too many players in your squad than not enough. We have got a steady squad, a solid unit of some 20 odd players, they will all be fighting for their place on Sunday afternoon.

I will be at the game standing in my usual spot, it will be a strange time kicking off at 1.30pm and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for the three points.

Finally, I’m truly honoured to receive my Freedom of the City of Wolverhampton award. I would like to thank the people around me that got me here – my wife, my family, Graham Turner, former players and Wolves staff that were there when I started my journey at The Golden Palace.
