Conor Coady calls for Wolves belief

"Believe" is the message from Conor Coady and Wolves as they set about trying to cause a big upset this weekend.

Premier League champions Manchester City – who thrashed Huddersfield 6-1 at the weekend – visit Molineux on Saturday lunchtime.

Pep Guardiola's City are 1/4 on to beat Nuno Espirito Santo's outfit, who have claimed one point from their opening two fixtures.

Captain Coady, while recognised the challenge, says Wolves must believe they can upset the odds.

"The gaffer's message is to be believe, it's as simple as that, to believe that we're good enough to play at this level.

"We did okay against Everton and I thought we were a lot better at Leicester.

"We should have come away with something. So we need to believe and keep listening to him.

"I wouldn't necessarily say it's a free hit against Man City. It's a game in the Premier League – this is what we're here for, we're here for games like this.

"If we can improve – it's at Molineux and we know how lively it can get and how much the fans will get behind us – it'll be a tough game for Manchester City too. We'll be ready."

Wolves took the lead in 33 of their 46 matches last season. Of those 33 they won 30, drawing the other three, yet they've conceded first in their opening two Premier League games.

Coady added: "We were known for starting games well last year and we want to keep on doing that now.

"We've played two games and not scored the first goal either time – I think that's a big part of it.

"When you're chasing the game it doesn't half become tough because these opposition players are great in their shape, they're very disciplined and don't move from what they do.

"We played some good stuff at Leicester and we need to learn from it.

"We started really well but we've conceded two sloppy goals which are almost unexplainable really, on another day they both go behind for a corner or a throw."

"The first one, I've jumped and it's come off my head. I thought I'd done enough and then it's hit Doc and finds the top corner.

"Another day the second deflects for a corner. They're sloppy goals from our point of view but we reacted well and created chances.

"They're the fine margins.

"We can play at this level. I thought we were the better team for long spells.

"We've got to get used to it quickly. We're in the Premier League and we deserve to be there.

"It's important to build on the performances. We'll listen to the manager and keep on learning.

"We knew it'd be tough at Leicester but we wanted to implement our style the way we did last season – be expansive but organised at the same time.

"I thought we did that so it's disappointing to come away with nothing."
