Norwich boss Daniel Farke: We're better than when we last played Wolves

Norwich boss Daniel Farke says Wolves will '100 per cent' be promoted this season – but his team can still win at Molineux tonight.

The Canaries are stuck in mid-table after enduring a frustrating campaign to date under their German head coach, who moved from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

Hamstrung by a tightening budget, Farke has overseen victories over play-off hopefuls Bristol City and Sheffield United but also defeats to lowly Bolton and Sunderland in an inconsistent season.

"There is no pressure on us," he said of tonight's game.

"Let’s say we come back to Norwich after an outstanding performance, an outstanding result with some points, that would be another signal for our development.

"If we get beat then we have to learn where we can improve and the areas to grow to be competitive at that high level. We can really enjoy this game."

Norwich earned a dramatic 1-1 against fierce rivals Ipswich Town on Sunday with Timm Klose notching a 94th minute equaliser, just six minutes after Mick McCarthy's team had taken the lead.

Earlier in the campaign they were comprehensively beaten 2-0 by Nuno's team at Carrow Road with the scoreline flattering the home team.

Farke insists Norwich will be a different proposition tonight.

"We have shown against some good sides in this division we are capable of getting results," he added. "To show the mentality we did at the end of the Ipswich game says a lot.

“We also took a lot from the Derby game (a 1-1 draw at the iPro earlier this month)

“We proved away from home we can keep clean sheets and even when we don’t have our best day and everything is against us we can come up with a late equaliser. We are competitive on each and every level.”

“We’ve developed from when we first played Wolves. It was perhaps the only home game where we had to accept the loss because the opponent was much better.

“We know the size of the task as Wolves is the best team in the league.

“They will 100 per cent be promoted in the summer. They are the favourites but we are looking forward to the game. We will be greedy and rebellious again.

“They have a lot of quality and their counter-actions are outstanding.

“We know we have to put in an outstanding performance to get a result and that’s what we’re trying to do.

“Wolves will be a different game to Ipswich as they have a different style.

“We might have a bit more space to create but have to be precise. Ipswich defended man against man all over the pitch and that is not the style of Wolves. They have lots of individual quality.

“They are very disciplined."

and well-structured when they go in front and they have many players to score goals."

Daniel Farke says there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Norwich City’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night.

The visit to Molineux is part of a busy week for Farke’s men with it being just three days after the derby draw with Ipswich Town and three days prior to hosting Bolton Wanderers at Carrow Road on Saturday.

But Farke said he has no new injury issues ahead of the trip to the league leaders, with Moritz Leitner and Timm Klose having recovered from knocks picked up prior to the Ipswich game.

“Everything is okay and we have no new big injury problems,” said the City Boss, speaking in his pre-match press conference. “It was an emotional derby and obviously there were some hits.

"We have some tired legs also with it being three games in six days. There has been lots of intensity with first the derby and Wolves this week.

“But in personal terms, we are in a good position. Moritz and Timm have recovered better than we expected. Moritz has played two 90 minutes with lots of intensity but he and Timm have reacted much better than we expected. They are available for tomorrow.”

Farke did admit however that he will look to rotate his squad, taking into consideration the team’s busy schedule.

“We will rotate on some positions because some fresh legs are needed on the pitch, with next the home game in mind.

“We will try to have a team of players on the pitch to be successful. We have a lot of competition for places and we had lots of options for the Ipswich game.

“I’m not too concerned; we just need to find the right decisions on who needs a rest. I’ve got the feeling we can change things without losing our focus and shape.”
