Conor Coady: Playing with Wolves teammates is a 'privilege'

Conor Coady has hailed his Wolves teammates as they prepare to take on Bristol City in a top of the table clash in the Championship.

The 24-year-old has been an integral part of Wolves' success so far this season, but has hailed his teammates as a 'privilege' to play with as Wolves could go 11 points clear at the top of the table with a win over the Robins.

"The first half of the season couldn't have gone any better really. The boys are improving and getting better week-on-week." Coady told TalkSport.

"We just want to keep on going now, we're into the second half of the season and the stage we're at it's a tough time of the season, so we're really looking forward to tomorrow.

"To play with the lads we're playing with, and how the boys are playing is a real privilege and the boys are doing really well."

The decision to shift Coady, formerly a defensive midfielder, into Nuno's back three is one which has paid dividends for Wolves since pre-season, and he believes that his move to centre-back suits him perfectly.

He's also been quick to credit the new boss for the tactics which have seen Wolves climb to the top of the table, becoming odds-on favourites for promotion to the Premier League.

"I've loved it, it's something the manager has come in and tried in pre-season in terms of playing with a back three and I'm playing in the middle of that and I'm really enjoying it.

"Everything's in front of you, you can organise and talk and it's something I like to do so at the minute things are going really well.

"Nothing really gets done without a plan. Everything we do week in week out is done to a plan to try and improve us. Up to now, he's been fantastic - the manager and his staff have been superb since they've come in.

"They've helped everybody improve and long may it continue, hopefully we can keep on having a good season."

Wolves go into the clash with Lee Johnson's men knowing that they face one of the league's in-form sides, with the host's having lost just one of their last ten games, winning seven in the process.

And following their remarkable Carabao Cup win over Manchester United, the Liverpool-born defender is well aware of the threat they offer.

"Bristol City have had a fantastic season, they've got a lot of belief within the squad. Obviously a lot of people have seen the game against Manchester United and how well they've done, and we're going there knowing we've got to be on our A-game tomorrow to get any kind of result.

"We're going there full of confidence, to try and play our own game and we've been working on things this week that we can go and implement. We're really looking forward to it, we'll take a lot of away support and see where it takes us."

Whilst promotion is the sole focus for Wolves this season, the club still have to balance their FA Cup commitments alongside their league campaign.

Wolves face Premier League basement-boys Swansea in the competition - and whilst it could be seen as a distraction, Coady thinks it could work in their favour.

"It [promotion] has been the aim of this football club for a number of years and we've not been good enough.

"But I think with the cup games as you can see from a lot of teams, including Bristol City, if we're looking at them - they've just beat Manchester United and it puts them on a bit of momentum, it really puts them on a crest of a wave.

"So I think we can take it as an advantage, hopefully we keep on winning games and go into that cup game and keep on improving.

"I've played in plenty of cup games before where you've been struggling in the league and you end up getting a win in the cup and it kicks you on.

"I think we've got to take it under our stride and keep improving and keep getting better."
