Saido Berahino sorry for England ban

England star Saido Berahino today revealed he wanted to show his love for his dad after being booked for a tribute.

The Albion ace was cautioned after celebrating the first of his two goals in the under-21s' 3-0 win over Finland last night.

He revealed a shirt with 'RIP Love U Dad' written on it while celebrating his first goal and was booked – meaning he is banned for Tuesday's Euro 2015 qualifier with San Marino at Shrewsbury.

Berahino's father was one of the estimated 300,000 killed in the civil war in Burundi between 1993 and 2005. And the 20-year-old said he wanted to show he was always thinking about his father.

He said: "I just had a few problems at home and I'd been thinking about my dad and I wanted to score a lot for my dad. I've missed him a bit. I was just thanking him. I know he's looking down.

"My mum was watching at home and I wanted to show her I still love my dad and miss him."

The 20-year-old made it six goals in four games for the Young Lions as his double added to Michael Keane's header in the win.

But Berahino admitted he didn't think he was doing anything wrong when he lifted his shirt up to display the message.

"I'm disappointed because I thought the rule was if the shirt goes over your head you get the booking but these things happen," he said.
