Albion are signing Watford right-back Allan Nyom for £3million and the club has joined the race for Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

The Baggies will announce Nyom's arrival this afternoon after the 28-year-old Cameroon international completes his switch from the Hornets.

It will be Albion's first signing of transfer deadline day, but the club are hoping to add a couple more faces this evening.

Nyom made 32 Premier League appearances for Watford last season but new boss Walter Mazzarri favours a 3-5-2 formation and Nyom has struggled to adapt to a back three.

The 28-year-old will join Albion to provide competition at right-back for Craig Dawson, and in turn, allow him to provide cover at centre-back.

Head coach Tony Pulis is also keen to sign Newcastle misfit Sissoko, and last night the Baggies offered out-of-favour winger Callum McManaman plus cash for the French midfielder.

The Magpies rejected that offer but Pulis hasn't conceded defeat.

However, Tottenham Hotspur also interested in Sissoko, and Albion are aware they are lower down the pecking order than the North London team, who can offer Champions League football.

Albion's pursuit of Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho has stalled because the Portuguese club want too much money.

The Baggies are also interested in Ignacio Camacho of Malaga, and triggered his £15m release clause at the weekend, but the final terms of that deal are yet to be agreed.
