Walsall boss in transfer warning

Walsall boss Richard Money has warned fans not to expect him to splash out the Dan Fox fee on one player.

Fox put the finishing touches to his move to Coventry yesterday for an undisclosed fee, but it is believed that the club will receive in the region of £400,000 for the player.

Saddlers have ready-made replacements for Fox in Paul Boertien and Richard Taundry, so there is no requirement to invest in the left-back area and with the window for permanent moves about to slam shut, it appears that any potential new faces would be temporary deals.

"It's unlikely that we're going to get someone on a permanent transfer before Thursday because they're just not available," Money said.

Money has consistently stressed that unlike some of his League One rivals, the club's budget is such that a straight cash deal for a player is more or less out of the question.

"We are not in the position where we can go and spend £300,000 on Glenn Murray for example or £50,000 on a centre-half like Gillingham have just done.
