The squad has been crying out for a right winger for some time, with Josh Gordon or Rory Holden often filling in.

Loanee Tyreik Wright arrived from Villa last month and has added two assists in as many games – offering a different threat on the right wing.

Now, McDonald is enjoying the balanced attack as he charges down the left side and is eager to add to his three goals and three assists in all competitions this campaign.

"It's always good to have another out and out winger on the right hand side, that's left-footed," McDonald said.

"It's a nice balance because I'm right-footed. It's really good for them to come into the team and the way they're playing, they're settling in very well.

"That's what the modern game is about really.

"It's been nice for the manager to put his trust in me and get minutes on the pitch.

"For any player that is what you need. It feels good to be on the pitch as much as possible to try and help out the team.

"Getting in those positions to finish chances (is key).

"Getting in and around the box. Assists I can't really control that but with goals, getting in the right positions and taking the chances."
