Walsall striker Febian Brandy's eyes on the future

Febian Brandy today targeted a strong finish to his Walsall loan while admitting he wants his own future sorted quickly.

The popular winger will return to parent club Sheffield United at the end of the campaign and revealed talks with Blades boss Nigel Clough are on the cards.

Brandy struggled to settle at Bramall Lane after switching from the Saddlers last summer and returned to the Banks's on loan in January.

And while the 25-year-old admits he does not know what the future holds, he is keen to find out sooner rather than later.

"I think the plan is to find out way before next season starts because I don't want to be going into somewhere and then after a month or two in find I'm not in the plans," he said.

"I'd rather know before the season starts so I can have a decent summer, get my head right and at least feel relaxed going into wherever it is I go to next, whether it be Sheffield United or elsewhere.

"But at the moment I am still contracted to Sheffield United and that is all I can say really."

Inconsistent form and a poor disciplinary record meant Brandy's Blades career got off to rather a blunt start and he fell out of favour with new boss Clough.

But the former Manchester United winger has scored four goals since rejoining the Saddlers and has earned praise from boss Dean Smith for his consistent performances.

With another year left on his Blades contract, a further return to the Banks's looks unlikely. But Brandy is determined to make the most of his final two games in a Walsall shirt, as Smith's men look to secure a second consecutive top 10 finish, starting with Saturday's trip to already-relegated Stevenage.

"That's the aim now, to finish as high as we can," he said. "I have not looked at the table to see where we can finish but it's just about winning games."
