Praise for Walsall loan signing

Rushall manager Paul Holleran has revealed that the signing of Walsall striker Harry Harris on loan is a case of 'third time lucky'.

The Pics wrapped up the signing of the 18-year-old last week on a one-month loan and he marked his debut against Bedworth with his new side's only goal in a 2-1 defeat.

And Holleran is delighted that persistence has paid off in the hunt for the teenage striker.

He said: "When we played Walsall in a friendly in pre-season Harry played and I was impressed with him then. I made an enquiry but nothing came of it.

"Then I went to watch a few reserve matches and he impressed me every time I saw him, so I tried seriously to get him but at the time Walsall didn't want to let him out.

"But I asked again last week and thankfully the timing was right and we were delighted to get him.

"He has settled in really well and he should be a good player for us.

"We have him for a month and hopefully at the end of that some of our injured strikers should be back."

Harris, a first-year professional at Walsall, said: "Rushall have got quite a few games coming up in

the next few weeks, so I'm just looking at playing as many games as possible.

"The manager called me in to the office on Friday and said that Rushall were interested in taking me on loan. He thought it was a good move for me and, when he said that, I was only too happy to join them for a month.

"I played youth football last season and reserve football this season, so this is the next bit of development for me.

"Players like Troy and David McDermott have shown what is possible. They were at Halesowen Town last year and now they are fighting for a first-team start."
