Changes at popular Black Country swimming pool after 'exceptional demand' during heatwave
Lane swimming will be limited at peak times
Rules have been changed at a Bilston swimming pool this weekend after “exceptional demand” during this week’s heatwave.
“Due to the exceptional demand in our main pool at WV Active Bilston - Bert Williams during the current hot weather, we will be making a few temporary changes this weekend to help as many customers as possible enjoy our facilities,” WV Active said in an email to customers.
For this weekend, lane swimming at the centre off Nettlefolds Way will be limited at the busiest times so more general swimmers can be accommodated and swimming sessions will be limited to 60 minutes to help reduce waiting times.

These one-hour sessions start from 8am and will operate on the hour, every hour.
Swimmers must check in at reception before their session begins. A coloured wristband will be issued for the session.
WV Active said: “These measures are temporary and will be reviewed after the weekend, as temperatures begin to return to normal.
“We really appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you to the pool.”
WV Active Bilston - Bert Williams is open from 8am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday (June 27 and 28).
A UK Health Security Agency amber heat-health alert for the West Midlands remains in place until 9am on Sunday. Learn more here.
