Premier League drugs claims: Stan Collymore calls for weekly tests for players

Stan Collymore has called on every Premier League club to test their players for banned substances to prove the game is clean following allegations a private doctor prescribed performance-enhancing drugs to more than 150 British athletes, including footballers.
All four clubs immediately issued statements dismissing the claims as 'false' and 'unsubstantiated'. Blues said it has had no involvement with Dr Bonar. But Cannock-born Collymore said immediate tests of all players could put a stop to the rumours right away, as he called on clubs to 'show us, don't tell us'.
The former Villa and England star said on Twitter: "If football is clean, which I honestly believe it is, every club do a voluntary test Monday morning. Every player, every club. Simple.
"If football doesn't want a whispering campaign, FA/FL/Prem do club tests and let us know we have a clean sport. Show us, don't tell us."
A British Tour de France cyclist, tennis players and a British boxer were also said to have been treated by the doctor.
However, there is no independent evidence the sports stars received any banned treatments and the football clubs have denied the claims.
London-based Dr Bonar, 38, denied the allegations when they were put to him and said he had not breached rules laid out by the GMC.
