Police investigation continues into fatal Wolverhampton Lidl crash

The police investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fatal collision as the store remains closed.

The store at the centre of a fatal collision has remained closed as a police investigation into the cause continues.

The Lidl superstore on Finchfield Hill in Wolverhampton has been closed to the public since the incident, which saw a car crash through the front doors on Friday evening after the driver, a woman in her 70s, was believed to have suffered a ‘medical incident’.

The crash left a man in his 30s declared dead at the scene, while another woman was taken to hospital alongside the driver with serious injuries, and there were several other injuries reported.

In the days following the collision, the car was recovered from the store and taken away, while a temporary security fence was erected at the front and tributes left on a wall adjoining the supermarket.
