Eight crews from West Midlands Fire Service were sent to the scene at Upper Chapel Street, Tividale, at 6pm yesterday.

Crews spent four hours tackling the blaze where a number of scrap car parts also caught fire.

They remained on site today to check over the premises. It is not known yet how the fire started. There were no injuries reported.

Footage showed smoke billowing into the sky from the unit which is located close to homes and a Sikh temple.

Crews used two hose-reel jets on the blaze, a hydraulic platform and pumped water from a nearby canal.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "The incident was a severe fire involving six vehicles and a large amount of scrap vehicle parts.

"The cause of the fire is yet to established. The fire spread to neighbouring industrial units. Both units were secured by the property owner."
