The Jolly Crispin in Clarence Street, Upper Gornal, was open for business as usual today after the rear of the pub was made safe, although access to the lounge is now via the side door.

The damage was caused when an elderly customer was trying to reverse into a parking space.

Owner Paul Jones said: "It is just an unfortunate mishap. The gentleman is a regular customer, and he was trying to reverse into the space when his foot slipped. It is all being sorted, and there are no hard feelings."
