The Thomas family, who live in Kingswinford, have spent some of their new found free time doing home improvements at their bungalow which they bought last year.

Peter Thomas, 55 and self-employed, said: "I was born and grew up in Kingswinford and went to Crestwood school, but moved to Stourbridge when I married. We moved back to Kingswinford 18 months ago when we decided to downsize.

"The bungalow had stood empty for a few years and needed some repairs, so having spent the first year working on the inside we decided to work on the outside this year and cleaning the moss off was a good place to start.

"My son, James, who is an English teacher at a local school helped and had the idea to thank all the NHS, as our daughter, Jodie is a key worker at a care home and my wife, Yvonne, is also is a key worker at a local charity home."

The family got creative while cleaning their roof and etched 'NHS' into the tiles.

More Covid-19 coverage:

It's already made an impression on social media, with neighbours posting their pictures of their view of the roof from their own homes along with their messages of thanks to the family for their efforts.

Peter added: "NHS is all we could fit as we had already part cleaned the roof.

"It’s not going to be there too long because I would like to finish cleaning the roof and make some repairs too.

"Thanks to everyone who have liked what we have done and there have been some lovely comments."
