Wolverhampton college 'legend' ready for retirement

A highly respected journalism tutor is putting away her pen and notebook after more than two decades.

Sue Green is retiring from her role as tutor at Wolverhampton College, having spent 21 years helping to train hundreds of new reporters on the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) diploma course.

Sue, a former journalist, had initially retired in 2014, but returned a year later when the college was chosen to deliver the new BBC Academy digital apprenticeship scheme.

She helped to put more than 100 candidates from across the UK through their paces in the challenging 18-month programme.

Under her leadership, the college was named as the top further education provider of the NCTJ diploma for three years running, an accolade it has now achieved for nine years in a row.

Sue was also awarded an NCTJ chairman’s award for the quality of journalism training she has provided at the college in 2015.
