Man left needing hospital treatment after being attacked near Asda in Smethwick
A police investigation has been launched after a man was left needing hospital treatment after being assaulted on a Smethwick street near Asda.
Officers from West Midlands Police were called to Windmill Lane in Smethwick on Saturday evening after reports of a man being attacked near the Asda store on the road.
The man, who is in his 40s, was taken to hospital by ambulance, but was reported to have been discharged later.
West Midlands Police has now launched an appeal into the assault and has asked for anyone with any information to get in touch as soon as possible.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “We’re appealing for information after a man in his 40’s was assaulted on Windmill Lane in Smethwick.

“The incident happened shortly after 9.30pm last night (Saturday).
“A man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment but was later discharged.
“Witnesses or people with any information should ring us on 101 quoting crime reference number 20/398755/25.
“Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
