A man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and a firearm offence following a blaze at property in a West Midlands city.

Marlon Mabrouk, aged 30, appeared at Newcastle-under-Lyme Magistrates Court on Saturday (January 31) where he was charged in relation to an arson attack at an address in Wolston Way, Coventry.

The incident is reported to have taken place at around 9pm on Friday, January 23.

No one was injured in the fire. Mabrouk was charged with arson with intent to endanger life and possession of an imitation firearm. 

The 30-year-old appeared before magistrates on Saturday and was remanded into custody.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "A man has been charged following an arson attack at an address in Coventry.

"This is following an incident in Wolston Way on January 23. Thankfully, no one was injured. 

"Marlon Mabrouk has been charged with arson with intentto endanger life, and the 30-year-old was also charged with possession with an imitation firearm."

An investigation into the incident is still ongoing, with West Midlands Police asking anyone with information to contact officers directly via 101, or using the Live Chat service on its website, quoting reference number 20/123410/26. 

The spokesperson added: "Our investigation into the fire continues, and anyone with further information about what happened can call 101 quoting crime number 20/123410/26.

"Information can also be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
