Man charged with carrying knife after police threatened with blade

A 38-year-old man has been charged with carrying a knife after undercover police were threatened with a blade in Wolverhampton.

Officers busted a drug deal taking place in Wolverhampton city centre on Saturday when they came under threat.

David Scarlett, aged 38, of Grenville Drive, Smethwick, was arrested following incident on suspicion of drug and knife offences.

He appeared before Walsall Magistrates Court his morning charged with possessing a knife in a public place. Scarlett was given conditional bail to reappear at the court on August 20 for trial.

Scarlett was arrested by plain clothes officers who were conducting Project Guardian, which aims to reduce violent crime.
