Wolverhampton schoolgirl has lip ripped off in horrific dog attack

A 12-year-old girl has been left with horrific injuries after a violent dog attack in the Black Country.

Police are trying to trace the dog and its owner following the attack in Wolverhampton on October 19.

The schoolgirl was walking home through an alleyway on to Ellerton Walk, in Park Village, when the black and white dog attacked her.

She was left with life-changing injuries after the dog bit her mouth and ripped off her lip.

The girl now requires extensive plastic surgery to repair her injuries.

The dog is described as a Husky or German Shepherd breed.

Its owner wasn't in sight during the incident which happened around 3.35pm.

Detectives are keen to hear from any possible witnesses and members of the public who have information on the dog and its owner.

Local ward councillor Jasbir Jaspal echoed police calls for members of the police to get in touch.

"This attack will live with this poor girl for the rest of her life," said councillor Jaspal.

"I would urge anyone who was a witness or has information to get in touch with police.

"This is a tragic incident."
