Davenports unveils new look city pub - the first to be relaunched under its new British & Best brand
Davenports Brewery has reopened its Birmingham pub The Queens Head in Steelhouse Lane after a major makeover - just in time for spring.
Taking inspiration from great British pubs over the decades to shape its pubs portfolio, the brewery has opened the doors at the first venue to come under the new British & Best brand at 11am today (Friday March 20).

The Queens Head, which dates back to 1829, has been given a welcoming, classic and timeless look, with cosy and private leather booths, moody black panelled walls, smoky mirrors and carefully curated lighting.

The British & Best theme also runs through the new menu which includes an array of pub classics including chip butties, London-style pies and fish and chips with the bar serving up Davenports’ award-winning brews, wines, premium spirits and seasonal cocktails.

The refurbishment has seen new indoor and outdoor areas created - with the Birmingham city centre pub now boasting three outdoor spaces including a Guinness Terrace to the rear. This is a nod to Davenports’ association with Guinness. As well as serving up pints, the brewery company used to bottle Guinness under license in 1905 and the original label artwork is proudly displayed in various areas.

There is also an upstairs courtyard and a new tabled area to the front of the pub.
Customers can now watch sport on screen in the former conservatory area and the pub will also be serving up free live entertainment on Saturday nights.
The function room, which has its own private bar, has also been refurbished with drop down screens and a projector to host parties and business events.

Katie McPhilimey, brand and marketing director for Davenports Brewery, said of the pub’s new look: “The décor is very special with a beautiful imposing copper bar, it is moody yet welcoming, a space for everyone whether that be a private booth or great social space to mingle with friends indoors, or outdoors.
“Our centuries-old association with Guinness is also honoured through our Guinness branded burger – which is worthy of its own Instagram page.
“In today’s challenging world, the comfort, consistency, familiarity, and quality of a British & Best pub is just what customers need.”
