'Be wildfire aware' Brigade offers advice after Dudley blaze which threatened fences

West Midlands Fire have asked people to be 'wildfire aware' after a blaze which affected fences close to people's homes in a residential area of Dudley.

The crews from Brierley Hill, Dudley and Haden Cross were called to reports of the fire on grassland near Russells Hall in Dudley, just off Thornberry Drive at around 11.20am and spent over five hours at the scene.

Residents enjoying their Bank Holiday were warned to beware of smoke and keep their windows closed.

West Midlands Fire Service has now asked people to be careful and wildfire aware, particularly for young people enjoying the last weeks of the summer holiday.

They issued a tweet urging people to follow four rules: 1)No campfires 2) Only barbecue in designated areas 3) Ensure cigarettes are out and 4) Take your litter home.
