The game, which was held at the Football Association's national training centre at St George's Park in Staffordshire, featured Punjabi Wolves Supporters (PWS) against Punjabi Rams.

But there was little charity on show on the pitch as the Wolves' lads ran riot, handing out a resounding 9-0 thrashing.

Team captain Amrit Singh said: "It was a fantastic experience to play at St George's and to get the win made it all the more special.

"We had been properly prepared for the game by Mel Eves and I think that gave us an extra spark.

"It was a competitive game but to raise so much money for good causes was the important thing."

On arrival at the centre the teams were welcomed by the FA's chief executive Martin Glenn - himself a Wolves fan - while the Wolves theme continued with PWS based in the Billy Wright changing room.

PWS raised a total of £2,000 which will be split between the Motor Neurone Disease Association, the Anthony Nolan Trust, Include Me Too, St Giles Hospice in Walsall and Punjab-based charity Unique Home for Girls.

The game would prove to be the high point of the weekend for the PWS team, some of whom went to Pride Park the following day to see Wolves lose 4-2 to Derby County.

The match was organised with the help of the Football Association and Anwar Uddin from the Football Supporters' Federation.
