The hoard of seven swords was handed over to the Heath Town neighbourhood police team in Wolverhampton.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "The swords were surrendered to us as the owner did not want them in his flat any longer.

"Thankfully, the owner of the swords acted responsibly in securing the disposal through us, but it goes to show what some people do collect."

Police have not revealed the identity of the man who handed the weaponry in, or how he had amassed the collection.

The stash was delivered to the police base in the Chervil Rise block of flats on the estate.
