X Factor finalist Olly Murs thrilled thousands of fans at Merry Hill shopping centre - and declared his support for Black Country favourite Wagner.

He belted out his audition song Superstitious, along with debut single Please Don't Let Me Go and current single Thinking of Me, in the centre's Fountain Square.

And he was mobbed by hundreds of female admirers, some of whom had been waiting hours to meet their idol.

The 26-year-old singer said he backed Dudley contestant Wagner Carrilho, who is second favourite behind Katie to leave the show this weekend.

He said: "I think he's great - he's always smiling and having fun, flirting with the ladies, I really like him.

"I think it's really harsh that people have been booing him - it's the public that keep voting to keep him after all."

Olly was joined on stage by Twist and Pulse, who came in second in this year's Britain's Got Talent and performed an energetic support set of their unique self-titled "streetomedy" style of dance to uproarious laughter from the audience.

Fan Rebecca Davis, 15, from Netherton, was there with her friend Joanne Lenton, 16, and was thrilled when her idol gave her a hug and a kiss after his performance.

"It was amazing," she said. "I was so excited when he kissed me, I was shaking afterwards."
